When I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2012, it was a complete surprise to me and my family since we had no history of the condition. Diabetes was not something that I had ever considered or thought about. The initial months after my diagnosis were a blur. I received overwhelming information and numerous referrals to various healthcare professionals. With their assistance, I achieved remission – although the term was not commonly used then. Today, diabetes has become an integral part of my daily life. I am enthusiastic about using my experience to contribute to IDF’s global movement to support and care for people living with diabetes and prevent diabetes in those at risk.
