I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in  2019. I was surprised because no one in my family had the condition. I hid from my diagnosis, running from the stress and anxiety. As a refugee wrought by so many challenges to stay alive, my situation worsened until I ended up in hospital. I found a doctor who advised me and helped me start taking medicine. Now, I am at 240-300dl/mg a day. I am excited to join Blue Circle Voices because I can learn from our diversity.

I want to be part of those who raise their voices to promote diabetes prevention and testing in  my community.

As a coordinator for Alongsiders International in my refugee camp, I plan to be an agent of change and promote healthy lifestyles for diabetes prevention.
