Since my type 1 diabetes diagnosis in 2014, I have become more determined, hardworking and motivated to reach my life goals. I always try to inspire others by showing them I can succeed despite diabetes. As a BCV advocate, I can reach more people and continue to combat stigma around diabetes.

By sharing my successes, I have changed people’s misperceptions of what living with diabetes means.

In 2020, I won the Iranian Cup Tasters Championship, a high-level coffee cup-tasting competition. People were surprised because I used my taste and sensory perception to win, and many articles claim that diabetes can affect taste. Not only did I win, but I was also certified repeatedly as an Iranian national sensory judge.

In addition to cup tasting, I practice freestyle football – the art of juggling a football – a very intense physical activity. These achievements have positively impacted my life, the people around me, and my Instagram followers by removing stigmas associated with diabetes.
