My name is Estefania, but everyone calls me Estefi. I am 22 years old, I am studying to be a doctor and I have type 1 diabetes since I was 2 years old. I have lived all my life with diabetes, and that doesn’t make me fell less than others… I work a lot to help people with diabetes in my country, and I hope all over the world too! I like to teach young children with diabetes how to take care of themselves, I like to support them, and to make them feel that they can do whatever they want…because living with diabetes is another way of living. Living with diabetes gives us the possibility of change our world, but also the possibility of made ourselves strong, brave and persistent.
My project: I created, working with some volunteers, the first Hospitals’ Map of Argentina, where everyone can look for any hospital or diabetes association in every city of my country. I had this idea because I realised that nobody knows where they can find a diabetologist or an endocrinologist... so I started looking for a list of public hospitals, and then we started calling them one by one to know if there was any specialist there. And finally, to make this map more useful, we decided to put all this information in a real map, with the address and telephone number of each hospital, using Google Maps as a platform.
