Some BCV members have been instrumental in the development of the following IDF advocacy activities:
Perspectives of people living with diabetes
In December 2016 IDF organised the first consultation with the BCV members focused on the priorities of the network. This consultation informed the development of this document which features the four main priorities of people with diabetes: access and affordability of medicines and care, diabetes education, prevention of type 2 diabetes and diabetes complications, and discrimination.
In May 2017 and on the occasion of the World Health Assembly, IDF organised a side event focused on access to diabetes medicines and care in underserved populations. Three BCV members participated as panellists in this event: Riva Greenberg (USA), Vanessa Pirolo Vivancos (Brazil) and Stela Prgomelja (Serbia).
You can find more information about this event here.
Policy recommendations to improve diabetes care
In 2017 IDF developed policy recommendations to improved diabetes care in Brazil, Russia and South Africa. These documents were developed with the support of the IDF Members and BCV members from those countries.
