I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 16, after experiencing DKA and almost going into a coma. Before my diagnosis. I remember feeling very tired and losing a lot of weight, despite already being thin. After the trauma of my diagnosis, I improved my knowledge and understanding of the condition and became aware that not everyone with diabetes has access to the care, technology and treatment they need.
I therefore decided to look for programmes related to diabetes awareness, education and advocacy and discovered the IDF Blue Circle Voices. I want to join the community to connect with people with similar stories to my own and who are not comfortable with the right to health and a decent quality of life being out of reach for many people. Diabetes can be managed with education, services, technology, discipline and support. That’s why we should fight for these being available to all people with diabetes!
