Our Senior Fellowship category recognises professionals who have distinguished themselves in the diabetes field. It is highly selective, with two rounds of applications a year.

Application is open to Clinical Practitioners, Nurses/Allied Health Professionals and Scientific Researchers.

A new round of applications will open in the second half of 2026.

The criteria for becoming a Senior Fellow of the International Diabetes Federation involves a rigorous selection process that evaluates the candidate’s notable contributions, groundbreaking research, influential publications, and overall impact on advancing knowledge and innovation in diabetes care and management. All applications are reviewed by the IDF Fellowship Committee.

Becoming an IDF Senior Fellow requires a two-year commitment and a subscription payment. This will only be required once the application has been approved by the Fellowship Committee.

+15 years clinical experience 10 years or more professional experience, with at least 5 years serving people with diabetes. 10 years or more professional experience.
Lead author on three or more articles related to diabetes. Letter of motivation, with evidence of contribution to IDF’s mission. A minimum of ten original articles as first or last author.

The fee for becoming an IDF Senior Fellow can either be paid in full or split over two calendar years. The fee varies by country and by category.
