The World Health Organization (WHO) held its 158th Executive Board (EB) in Geneva on 2-7 February. Several EB agenda items were particularly relevant for the diabetes and NCD communities.
The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) supported the following statements:
• Constituency statement led by NCD Alliance on agenda item 6: Follow-up to the political declaration of the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
• Constituency statement led by NCD Alliance on agenda item 10: Primary healthcare.
• Constituency statement led by World Heart Federation on agenda Agenda item 16: WHO’s work in health emergencies.
• Constituency statement led by World Heart Federation on agenda item 23: Well-being and health promotion.
• Constituency statement led by NCD Alliance on agenda item 26: Economics of health for all.
The WHO Executive Board advises and facilitates the work of the World Health Assembly, WHO’s decision-making body. IDF is in official relations with WHO, collaborating closely on diabetes awareness, prevention and care.
