The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 250 national diabetes associations in more than 160 countries and territories. IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy for over 75 years.

We are looking to hire a well-structured, results-driven and enthusiastic Project Coordinator to join our Education team.

This is a one-year consultancy contract (self-employed), with the possibility of extension, offered on either a part-time or full-time basis.

Location: Home-based, ideally in a Portuguese-speaking African country (e.g., Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea).

 

Purpose of role

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the roll-out of the IDF programmes in Portuguese-speaking countries, mainly from African Region.

 

Key Responsibilities and activities
  • Programme coordination: Support implementation of IDF School of Diabetes courses, liaising with IDF staff and local partners.
  • Participant onboarding: Manage the enrolment of healthcare professionals, provide guidance, and ensure participants navigate the platform effectively.
  • Promotion and dissemination: Promote IDF courses through professional networks, associations, and institutions. Disseminate course materials and updates in Portuguese to target audiences.
  • Learner support: Respond to participants’ queries and provide timely technical or administrative support. Send reminders for course completion and follow up on inactive learners. Escalate unresolved issues to the IDF Education team when necessary.
  • Monitoring and reporting: Collect, consolidate, and submit progress reports, including data on registrations, course completions, and learner feedback. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities by sharing insights and recommendations.

 

Skills/Competencies/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Nursing, medical, or allied health background (required).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in project coordination/administration, ideally in healthcare or education preferably in non-communicable diseases.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in Portuguese and English (additional languages are an asset).
  • Proficient in standard office software; familiarity with online learning platforms is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural and international virtual environment.
