“Dialogue with experts” in China celebrates three successful years

09 September 2025

On 31 August, the Connect to IDF Experts: 2025 Diabetes Academic Exchange marked the third consecutive year of this successful educational initiative that connects healthcare professionals across China with global leaders in diabetes care.

Hosted by the Beijing Medical and Health Foundation, with academic support from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and philanthropic support from Novo Nordisk (China), the session once again underscored the importance of international collaboration in advancing diabetes care.

Chaired by Prof Tianpei Hong, the event brought together 110 physicians in eight cities across China for a dynamic virtual programme featuring four distinguished IDF experts.

Opening the scientific programme, Prof Eduard Montanya discussed the treatment paradigm shift towards cardiovascular and kidney risk reduction, emphasising the benefits of GLP-1RA therapies. Building on this theme, Prof Juris Meier presented extensive trial data confirming the cardiovascular benefits of oral semaglutide. Continuing the focus on complications, Prof Gian Paolo Fadini addressed the management of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), showcasing emerging evidence on the role of semaglutide in improving patient function.

The session concluded with a masterclass delivered by Prof Rayaz Malik on effective scientific presentation skills.

The programme fostered lively discussion and active learning. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with the session achieving a 100% satisfaction rating.

The continued success of this annual initiative underscores IDF’s commitment to facilitating global knowledge sharing and supporting physicians in delivering high-quality diabetes care worldwide.
